Laura Thomas is an award-winning textile artist and designer, producing striking textiles for contemporary spaces. A weaving expert, her breadth of practice makes her somewhat unusual in woven textiles: public art, commercial textile design, curation, research, artist residencies and exhibiting. Whether it be site-specific art laminated in glass or contract upholstery, underpinning everything is an inherent practical curiosity, celebrating the beauty of yarns and creating striking aesthetics for this ancient craft.

“I have an ongoing passion to make visually arresting work that surprises the viewer and captures their imagination. As a weaver I enjoy taking a mixed-media approach, specifically juxtaposing hard and soft materials. My approach allows the most delicate textile constructions to be made permanent through the encapsulation process.”
