Linda Bloomfield

Linda Bloomfield trained as an engineer and materials scientist and spent a year in Japan after finishing her PhD, working as a scientific researcher and doing pottery at weekends. Her porcelain tableware range is inspired by Japanese pottery, with a satin matt glaze on the outside and colour in the inside. After a working as a scientific research fellow at Imperial College, she decided to set up her pottery studio, making tableware and selling to Liberty, Harrods and ABC Home and New York.

Linda also writes books on glazes and is interested in the science of colour development. Her glaze colours are inspired by mid-century textiles and the still life paintings of Giorgio Morandi, as well as the colours and textures of lichen and shells. She has recently made a new collection of still life bottles and vases.

Linda Bloomfield has been a member of Design-Nation since 2014.
