Kim Colebrook

resilience after ruin

CERAMICS | ABERGAVENNY

How does your craft help you explore memories, and is there a specific moment that inspired this piece?

My work is about the south Wales coalfields and their communities. It was inspired by my degree show where I focused on the Aberfan Disaster— the way that a community was instantly destroyed by the material that created it, and the way that the survivors hold the loss deep within their souls, whilst still determined to carry on.
