Jade is from the Cheshire countryside where she grew up watching her dad restoring historical buildings and demonstrating wattle and daub. She studied in Manchester where she made mineral and resin rings inspired by geology and nature. She works from a home studio near Hampstead Heath, combining metal with rare and unusual gemstone specimens.
Jade makes wearable objects to connect us to the natural world. Her intention is that wearers will feel adorned and protected, wearing objects that evoke organic softly shaped armour like a seashell.
Jade loves visiting and researching museum collections for the thrill of peeking in drawers to explore specimens and the feeling of feasting on a treasure trove of knowledge. Jade loves to build textures and her collections often involve making variations on a theme, in a series of one-of-a-kind pieces.
Jade is intrigued and inspired by the cases of the caddis-fly, known as nature’s architect. This insect binds together twigs or pebbles or shells with a waterproof silk, to make its own camouflaged home in ponds and streams.
