Topophilia: a sense of place

“Topophilia” is Design-Nation’s 25th Anniversary presentation at Collect 2026 and is a celebration of  the profound emotional connections we have to places.

Our artists embed a deep sense of location in their work, translating physical aspects and emotional resonances of coastlines, city streets, domestic interiors, and distant landscapes into compelling objects. Each piece reveals both technical mastery and poetic vision, inviting audiences to engage with the stories, memories, and atmospheres that shape our world, and experiencing the enduring power of craft to make the intangible tangible.

Connecting & championing UK craft & design since 1999: Design-Nation is a national network and curated portfolio that supports Britain’s leading designer-makers. A not-for-profit organisation, Design-Nation works collaboratively to champion exceptional and authentic craftsmanship, support professional growth, and create inclusive opportunities that help craft and design to thrive across the UK.
