Kirsty Adams

place and provenance

Kirsty Adams completed her degree in Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics at the University of Brighton in 1992. She also qualified as an Art and Design Secondary teacher and then apprenticed at a small family run pottery near Tateyama-machi, Japan, working on the potter’s wheel for two years.

Her work has its roots in process and is inspired by sense of places, provenance and heritage; she is inspired by the coastlines of both Northumberland and the Algarve, Icelandic landscapes, Eastern traditional approaches to ceramics, and the historic interiors of Howick Hall and National Trust properties.

She received support and funding for her ceramics business from the Prince’s Trust in 2000.

Kirsty lives and works from her home studio in Newcastle upon Tyne, having spent 17 years in London before moving with her family to Newcastle in 2014.
