Julie Massie is a ceramic wall artist who works with stained shards of porcelain clay, creating tactile, textured surfaces with uneven edges that invite close physical engagement.
Julie’s work challenges the “do not touch” culture of galleries, encouraging viewers to connect through touch and experience art in a more sensory, emotional, and grounding way.
She draws her inspiration from the Dorset coastline, using its fragility, shifting forms, and the muted hues of black, greys, greens and blues, to inform both the colour palette and structure of her work.
Julie’s practice is deeply multi-sensory, exploring touch, sight, and sound through texture, light, shadow, and the subtle resonance of porcelain.
