Swedish-born jeweller Carin Lindberg creates one of a kind pieces with gems and rocks as her central focus, both in terms of materials used and design inspiration, and in unexpected combinations.
Carin says, “When a piece encourages people to touch, ask a question, or start a conversation about it, that’s when I know I’ve got it right and it’s what gives me the satisfaction and inspiration to create.”
Carin’s gemstone drawer is a treasure trove of intriguing and unusual stones. She scours the world for the most inspiring gems to work with, each one a natural work of art. Her materials range from humble beach rocks through the spectrum of gemstones, to precious gems and diamonds. Design elements, textures and finishes take inspiration from her Swedish heritage, the surroundings of the north Cornish coast where she lives and works.
Carin’s latest rings were produced as part of a self-led project to encourage her creativity. After the last 18 challenging months, she learnt new skills and tried new ideas that had lingered been in her head, creating a one-of-a-kind statement ring each week, over a ten week period. These unique pieces are what she most enjoys making and were her obvious choice of form for a project to push her skills. The rings will serve as inspiration for future work, including the commissions she takes on.
