Adele Howitt creates sculptural ceramic works inspired by the post-industrial and semi-rural landscapes of South Yorkshire.
Drawing on traditional pottery techniques uncovered through research into the region’s ceramic heritage, Adele combines slab building, throwing and hand-building to create richly textured abstract forms. Recent work explores the waterways that shaped the South Yorkshire pottery industry, reflecting the relationship between landscape, history and making.
Adele’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in museum collections in Taipei, Barnsley and Croatia, as well as arts and health collections.
For Crafted Futures, Adele will be selling a series of large sculptural ceramics.
