With more than four decades of experience as both a maker and educator, Alma Boyes creates contemporary ceramics inspired by the historic technique of agateware.
Using coloured clays to produce distinctive marbled patterns, every wheel-thrown piece created by Alma is unique, celebrating the unpredictable beauty of the making process. Her practice draws on a career spanning industrial ceramics and sculpture, combining technical expertise with a deep appreciation for material and form.
Alma’s work has been exhibited widely, including at Homo Faber in Venice, London Craft Week and with the Sussex Guild, and is represented in the permanent collection at Chippenham Museum.
For Crafted Futures, Alma will be selling a large fruit bowl and vase alongside a range of ceramic hand thrown agateware functional wares including plates, bowl, cup, jug, expresso cup and lidded vessels.
