Geraldine Vaciannia of Jewelfish creates contemporary jewellery inspired by her Afro-Caribbean heritage through the aspects of its terrain.
From the sights and textures she creates abstract, wearable pieces with a place in mind, expressing the inherent value we see in both our landscape and surroundings. She believes we increasingly appreciate what is being eroded and under threat, including a way of life. The themes are not unique and apply to a wider sense of people, place and its elements.
She uses both traditional and experimental jewellery-making techniques and works with precious recycled metals. Sustainable methods include FSC packaging and limited waste. Many pieces are made to order and others produced in limited quantities. The natural gemstones and pearls she incorporates are carefully selected, often resulting in one of a kind creations.
For Crafted Futures, Geraldine will be selling a collection of pieces from the JA series and Seeds collection.
