Sarah-May Johnson creates handwoven textiles inspired by the colours, patterns and textures discovered through travel.
Working directly at the loom, Sarah-May continually experiments with structure and technique, producing complex woven pieces that are created as a single uninterrupted length of cloth. Her vibrant textiles blur the boundaries between art and design while celebrating the expressive possibilities of weaving.
Sarah-May’s work has been exhibited widely across the UK, including Collect and Craftspace’s touring exhibition Made in the Middle, where she received the Textile Prize.
For Crafted Futures, Sarah-May will be showing framed woven artworks and freestanding sculptures, a collection inspired by movement, music, freedom and joy.
Sarah-May is a Professional member of Design-Nation.
